Peru Awarded World’s Leading Culinary Destination

If you are a foodie, then you should consider going to Peru for your next holiday. The World Travel Awards named Peru the World’s Leading Culinary Destination for the sixth straight year.

People from all over the world go to Peru to sample its delicious cuisine. According to Bloomberg, Lima is the best place to taste top quality restaurant cooking. Ten Peruvian eateries are part of the 50 Best Restaurants in Latin America list.

Peru first received the award in 2012. It won over other countries such as Argentina, China, Italy, Malaysia, Spain, United States, Thailand, Mexico, Japan, and India, just to name a few. It seems like foodies from around the globe love Peru’s fresh take on seafood, as well as a cooking style that remains seasonally and regionally conscious.

Throughout the years, Peru has raised its gastronomic profile. The country invested in its cuisine, which is a reason why more people are recognizing the country’s foods today. Peru has a diverse culture, and this is seen in its culinary offerings as well.

Aside from being the World’s Leading Culinary Destination, Peru is also South America’s Leading Green Destination, South America’s Leading Tourist Board, and the World’s Leading Tourist Attraction. In the past, the main reason why people visit Peru was to discover Machu Picchu. However, tasting Peru’s gastronomic treats is becoming the number one reason to go to the country in recent years.

Behind Peru’s success in introducing its culinary wonders to the world is PROMPERU, which is the Peru Export and Tourism Promotion Board. The agency has been promoting the country through innovative campaigns in the hopes of attracting more visitors. Through its efforts, the country became a gastronomic destination visited by millions of people each year.
